The eBible project is a unique and independent Collective Work, under the registered trademark called eBible®. Xoán Neira, the collective author and director of this project, creates, publishes and promote this Collective Work.

The Collective Author produces the iconographic and theological ideas reflected in every illustration. This production of ideas is the result of the interpretation of the Biblical text based on modern and traditional theology (Fathers of the Church and Protestant masters). Neira decides which characters and scenery must be reflected in the illustration. He suggests shapes, colors and Biblical costumes. He reconstructs the historical background of very painted scene; and finally puts together different illustrations, which are organized in sequences based on the narrative order of the Biblical text. Finally, he offers in a pop-up window a detailed interpretation of both every Biblical fragment and its equivalent illustration.

As a Collective Author he gathers the contributions made by the different collaborators who contribute from their digital, communicative, artistic and technological skills. In other words he coordinates painters, music composers, digital and Internet experts. The Digital Bible Foundation has been created for the preservation of this artistic Work (We have more than 40.000 illustrations!). [LinkedIn Fundación Digital Bible.] and [LinkedIn de la página Fundación Digital Bible.]

The Digital Bible Foundation strives to reinforce the access to the Bible in this new digital world. This new digital culture allows a much bigger presence of the Bible all over the World. Finally this new digital understanding enriches the contact with the Bible thanks to the much more interaction of digital creations.

The language of our present days culture is digital, in other words, a language that combines text, image, music, sound effects, video and interaction with the reader.

These digital languages enable a publication of the Bible –eBible® in our case– in the following digital proposals:

  • An illustrated Bible – eBook
  • Biblical narrations – Videobook
  • Lectio – Video
  • Interactive Learning units – On line.

This digital era of both native digital and trained digital persons are used to a language of visual and music/sound stimuli. This is a culture that cannot work without sound/image stimuli. That’s why the eBible® applies this sensory digital language to the Bible. Our project is based on combination of images, audio and text, so that the listener to God’s Word can enjoy much more God’s Word by embracing these stimuli in spaces of spiritual retreat. The success of meditation of God’s Word will be guaranteed thanks to the digital language of the eBible®.
