The figure of José I. Tellechea and his work are an example of humanism lived out from his deep Christian identity. A man of values and research, he left behind an extremely important legacy for understanding the roots of Spain, specifically the roots of the 16th century, in which the figure of Carranza is found.
The presentation of the Lekuona Award in 2001 led him to write a speech in which he clearly outlines his life. Interested parties can read about José Ignacio’s background in this “Autobiography.” As a complement to this document, we present another one called “Biography,” which describes his life with texts taken from his book Tapices de la Memoria (Tapestries of Memory), a lengthy memoir of his entire life. A short work entitled “The Person,” written in 2010 by his disciple Xoán Manuel Neira Pérez, legatee of Professor Tellechea’s Carrancian work, presents us with an X-ray of the person of José Ignacio and his research dimension. Finally, a long document entitled “Bibliography” presents us with the complete extensive work published by Professor Tellechea.
